Great Basin College Profile

Laura Debenham LSW, MSW
Coordinator/Instructor Social Work 3+1 Program

Social Work is not for everyone but for those of us who want to make a difference while we make a living it is perfect! The fact that UNR and 澳门新甫京娱乐游戏在线下载 have created a program to empower social workers in our own back yards is phenomenal. I'm thrilled to get to be a part of it!

I have worked as both an educator and in the social work field since 1987. My focus has been in domestic violence, autism, parent education, grief, life coaching, women’s issues, couple communication and career counseling. Like most social workers, I utilize a strengths based model in order to empower individuals, couples and families. I am a past therapist/family counselor at Lifequest Behavioral Health in Elko and Glass House Counseling in Las Vegas. I worked as a family advocate at The Family Tree Center in Billings, Montana and owner/instructor for TBA Think Before Acting in Elko. I was a school social worker for Elko Institute of Academic Achievement as well as an instructor for community education at 澳门新甫京娱乐游戏在线下载. I enjoy writing and lecturing and has provided several workshops for educational and social work conferences on a variety of topics. I am the author of three books; Changing the World One Diaper at a Time, Solid as a Rock and Painting Daisies.
